How the Program Works

Once a student joins The First Tee of Greater St. Louis golf and life skills program, he/she begins training to achieve PLAYer Certification, the first official certification level in The First Tee curriculum. Training includes golf and life skills classes, and on-course play.

Eligibility/Age Limit

Membership in the First Tee of Greater St. Louis is open to all young people ages 7 to 17. Early, safe and fun, experiences help participants and parents develop interest in the game, and engage in instruction and play at The First Tee of Greater St. Louis. The First Tee of Greater St. Louis “Little Linkster” class is available for children ages 5-6.

Little Linksters (Ages 5 and 6 – new to program)

The First Tee of Greater St. Louis offers The Little Linksters Class for children that are 5 and 6 years old. This class is designed to provide a basic introduction to The First Tee curriculum and Nine Core Values for children that are not quite old enough to participate in the certifying programming.

Player Life Skills Class (Ages 7 and Up – new to program)

For many of our participants, The First Tee program will be a new experience. In addition to meeting other young people from different backgrounds, they will be exposed to a game that emphasizes courtesy, honesty, self-discipline, and respect. Player Level (previously known as Pre-Par) is the first of five levels that The First Tee teaches. All lessons are taught on the golf course.

Par Life Skills Class (Must be PLAYer Certified to register for this class)

The Par Level is the second of five levels that The First Tee offers. This level focuses on enhancing and improving golf skills and builds on the 9 Core Values presented in the PLAYer Life Skills Class. All lessons are taught on the golf course.

Birdie Life Skills Class (Must be Par Certified)
The Birdie Level of The First Tee Program is the third of five levels that students will journey through while in this program. The students who enter this program have shown a commitment to the program by successfully meeting all Par Certification requirements on and off the golf course.

Eagle Life Skills Class (Must be Birdie Certified)
The Eagle Level is a huge achievement. Students in this level have shown a commitment to The First Tee Program and to the game of golf. To get this far young people have had to be committed to the life skills program by completing all requirements on and off the golf course.
